I enjoy photography as a way to connect with other people, telling stories and capturing memories for a lifetime. I love capturing fleeting moments in weddings, politics, sports and everyday life.

How I got started

I started my journey when I first picked up my aunt’s camera at Christmas in 2013 and captured a photo of my reflection in an ornament (right). My aunt gifted her old camera to me soon after and encouraged me to continue exercising my artistic eye.

I began college not knowing what I wanted to study to make my time worthwhile. Though I didn’t sign up for any photography classes I continued to learn by myself and held onto my passion of photography through exploring the outdoors and photoshoots with friends.

In 2019, I enrolled at the University of Minnesota majoring in Political Science. It piqued my interest in history and politics but in all honesty I struggled. I switched my major to Journalism where I was able to incorporate my love of photo and video creation into several projects throughout my courses (see ‘Editorial’ tab). I loved doing it and I excelled, and finally I accepted this is where I should have been all along.

Election 2022

One of the opportunities at U of M was an assignment for my photojournalism class to photograph candidates and attendees at the DFL election night party at the InterContinental Hotel in St. Paul, Minn., on November 8, 2022.

Glen Stubbe, a political photojournalist for the Star Tribune, invited me to join him to photograph Minnesota’s First Family in the presidential suite and made this photo.
